Washing machines are an essential appliance for every household. Unfortunately, they aren’t cheap, so choosing the right one for your own personal needs is crucial to ensuring you get your money’s worth. Not to mention years of hassle-free laundry.
The good news is that a good quality washing machine can last for several years if you choose the right one and look after it properly. The only issue, however, is the fact that there are more choices available now than ever before. Not many people can honestly call themselves a passionate washing machine expert, and the fact that you are reading this article right now tells us that you are the complete opposite.
Luckily, our team has managed to research and test a multitude of different front loader washing machines NZ, and we have finally narrowed our choices down to just three. If you are in the market for a top of the range front-loading washing machine, then look no further than the following:
|Washing Machine||Product Dimensions||Capacity||Special Features|
|Indesit XWA 81283|
|59.5 x 60.5 x 85 cm||8KG||16 pre-programmed settings. Self-cleaning functions|
|Indesit XWA 71283||59.5 x 54 x 85 cm||7KG||Energy efficient. Simple to use|
|Trieste TRWTL-60||54.5 x 56 x 94 cm||6KG||Built-in balancing detection and automatic power off|
If you are looking for the very best front loader washing machine on the market today, you certainly can’t look past the XWA series from Indesit. The 81283 model is an 8KG front-loading washer that is incredibly easy to use and cleans clothes in just 50 minutes (or as quick as 9 minutes on the rapid cycle).
For such a powerful machine, it’s surprising how simple and easy it is to use. The main feature on the Indesit 81283 is the dial on the front of the machine which allows you to choose from the sixteen different wash settings, depending on the length, the temperature and the material of the clothes that you are washing. The sixteen different settings are clearly labelled and categorized to make your choice quick and painless.
While it’s true that the majority of front-loading washing machines offer simple to use dials and a multitude of different pre-programmed settings, not many can offer the same level of special programs that the 81283 does. From a special sports program, to anti-odour cycles and even a delay timer, the flexibility that this machine offers are second to none. It truly does cover all of the bases, which is exactly what you want from a washing machine.
Another particularly useful feature is the self-cleaning cycles and the anti-overflow functions. If you have ever owned a front-loading washing machine before, you will understand that the most time-consuming – and at times downright frustrating – aspect of owning one is the need to clean the internal parts every few months to prevent the build-up of limescale. Thankfully the Indesit 81283 can take care of all of that for you by cleaning itself whenever you choose. You don’t even need to add any additional detergents
The water balance technology can also detect the size of the load that is placed inside of the barrel, and can adjust the amount of water accordingly. Not only does this save water, it also saves energy and ultimately, money. The motor itself is already energy efficient, so if you are looking for a ‘green’ washing machine that is cheap to run, this is absolutely perfect for you.
Our Final Verdict…
We were blown away with the Indesit 81283 for a few reasons. First of all, we were pleasantly surprised with how much laundry this machine can wash per load, without leaving any stains or musty smells. The machine is also extremely quiet for a machine of this size.
It’s easy to use, it’s energy efficient and it has more special programs than you will probably ever need. If you are looking for a top of the range front-loader washing machine, we would highly recommend that you check this one out.
|- Huge drum can hold a lot of laundry|
- Very energy-efficient
- Self-cleaning capabilities will save you time and money
- Express settings can wash your clothes in less than 10 minutes
- Pre-programmed settings are quick and easy to use
|- The stickers on the front of the machine can peel off after a while, so be weary of those|
As you can tell from the similarity in the name between this washing machine and the one we previously reviewed, they are both pretty much the exact same machine. The only difference being that the previous front-loader machine can hold a kilogram more clothes than this one.
If you consistently need to wash larger loads of laundry, we would highly recommend choosing the 8KG version of this washing machine as the extra kilogram really does make a difference to the amount of clothes that you can wash per load. Not only that, but an extra kilogram of clothes will pretty much use the same amount of water and energy as it would without it, so you will essentially be cleaning more clothes, for less.
With that being said, if a 7KG drum is going to be big enough for your needs, we would still recommend this washing machine without any doubt whatsoever. It’s easy to use, it has a wide variety of settings to choose from, it’s energy efficient and it’s competitively priced.
One thing we failed to mention in the previous review of the 8KG version was the fact that this machine is only available in white. This is probably a non-issue for most people as it looks good (in our opinion), but we strive to be completely honest and transparent in our reviews, so we think that it’s worth mentioning.
Our Final Verdict…
As you can tell from the first review in this article, we love the XWA series from Indesit, and would highly recommend them to anyone who needs a superb front-loading washing machine. Again, if you want to take advantage of the additional drum space, we would still recommend upgrading to the 8KG version but if you’re happy with the 7 kilos, it’s still a fantastic machine that you will definitely enjoy using.
|- Self-cleaning draining pump works flawlessly|
- The balancing water level system and the anti-overflow device help to save energy and water
- Excellent value for money
|- Will clean considerably less clothes than the 8KG version
- Only available in white
Last but not least we have the TRWTL from Trieste. Although Trieste are not as well-known as other brands such as Indesit, they are still well regarded and respected by those who have ever purchased one of their washing machines.
The TRWTL only has a load capacity of 6 kilograms, so it’s not ideal for those who need to wash large loads on a consistent basis. However, for single people or smaller families, it’s more than sufficient.
With the load size aside, where the TRWTL-60 really shines is its simplicity and minimalism. Unlike the Indesit machine that we previously reviewed, this easy to use washer only has six wash programs: Heavy, normal, quick, jeans, anti-dry and anti-wrinkle. If you need something that you can just throw your clothes in forget about, this is probably the best machine for you. It has a built-in delayed start function so you can set the wash to start at a later time and it even automatically shuts off as soon as the wash is complete.
A few of the other handy features of the TRWTL-60 are the alarm that sounds if there is ever an error or a problem with the internal parts of the machine, a child safety lock, a status light to show you the progress of your cycle and auto-balancing detection.
|- Only has 6 wash programs, making it extremely simple to use|
- Perfect for smaller families or individuals
- It will automatically shut off after every wash, saving energy and preventing accidents
- It’s pretty quiet (72db)
|- Doesn’t hold as many clothes per load compared to the Indesit
- Only available in white
Our Final Verdict…
To be completely transparent, if we were to recommend any front-loading washing machine to our readers, it would undoubtedly be the Indesit 81283. It has the most flexibility, it can wash the most amount of clothes per load and its energy efficient.
With that being said, the TRWTL-60 is still an amazing washing machine that is ideal for those who need something smaller, reliable and intuitive to use. If you are always on the go and need something to get your washing done with as little thought as possible, this is probably the right choice for you.
